The independent firms keeping buildings safe deserve software built for them.
There's plenty of software for the trade. Fred is the one built for fire protection alone, and priced for the firm doing the work, not the national contractor.
The wall
An independent fire protection firm hits the same wall every time. The work is exacting and the records have to be right, but the tools built for it are made for companies ten times their size.
So they stay on paper. It works, until a date slips, or a customer asks a question the notebook can't answer quickly, or the firm grows past what one person can hold in their head.
The name
Fred's named for Frederick Grinnell, an American engineer born in 1836 and one of the fathers of modern fire protection. Henry Parmelee built the first automatic sprinkler; Grinnell was the one who perfected it.
In 1881 he patented his own improved design. By 1890 he'd refined it into the glass-disc sprinkler that became the world standard for the next 50 years, one of around 40 fire-protection patents in his name.
The company he founded carried his name for more than a century, folding into some of the biggest names in fire protection today. His name is still cast into sprinkler fittings in buildings the world over. Look up in an office or a hotel, and the system overhead may well trace back to him.
That's the idea Fred's named after: take the work that keeps people safe, and make it quietly simple to get right.
What Fred does
Fred is the thread that runs through an independent firm's fire safety. Every site, every service, every certificate and every invoice, in one place you reach from your phone on site.
It does the admin, so the firm can get on with the work that matters: keeping buildings safe.
What Fred stands for
On the independent firm's side
The firms the big tools overlook are the ones Fred's built for. The firm you run, not the one ten times its size.
Fire protection, and nothing else
Fred is for fire protection firms, and no one else. We're not building for ten other trades at once, so every part of it is relevant to yours. That focus is what keeps it lean, keeps it improving fast, and keeps the price as fair as we can make it.
Simple on purpose
Fred's built to be intuitive, and to do only what a fire protection firm needs. No bloat, no features you'll never touch, and none of the cost that comes with them.
The record carries the weight
Fred does the admin. The engineer's sign-off is what makes a certificate mean something.
